Children’s birthdays are great! A wonderful reason to celebrate with your best friends and enjoy some delicious food. This includes cakes, sweets etc. too, of course, but how can we encourage the little ones to try something healthy as well? We’ll show you a really easy way to do this with unique finger food in various animal shapes.
Ladybird
Here’s what you need to make these lovely ladybirds:
- Strawberries
- Spelt biscuits
- Cream cheese
- Blueberries
First, spread the cream cheese onto the spelt biscuits. Then slice a strawberry into quarters. On each biscuit, arrange two pieces of strawberry to look like the wings of ladybirds. Then add a blueberry at the top to make a head. To add more details, you can also cut the stalk off the strawberry and arrange this to look like the antenna.
Turtle
To make the turtles, you’ll need:
- Apple (green)
- Grapes
- Toothpicks
- maybe chocolate buttons
Cut off a piece of the apple so that you have half of the apple to arrange evenly. Then you’ll need to cut up 2 grapes per turtle, which you arrange on the plate to make hands and feet. Now you just need to make the head. Stick this on the end of the apple with a toothpick. As a highlight you can add two eyes made from chocolate buttons. And the tasty turtle is ready!
Peacock
To create the colourful peacock, you’ll need:
- Apple
- Blueberries
- Grapes
- Strawberries
- Kiwi
- Mandarins
Let’s start with the apple. Use one half to cut out the body shape. Then stick blueberries into the apple with a toothpick to make eyes. The beak is made from mandarin peel, which you can simply arrange on top.
Then start arranging the fruit. Place the blueberries around the apple first and then arrange the grapes. Then cut the strawberries into slices and arrange them to form the next row. Then add the mandarins and finally the sliced kiwi segments. It’s very simple and looks unique.
Butterflies
For the butterflies you only need one ingredient: strawberries. First cut off the green bits so that only the stem remains on the stalk. Carefully divide this into two parts. Then cut the strawberry into quarters from the bottom but be careful not to cut through the strawberry completely. Now you only need to spread out the strawberry and the stalk.
Dolphins
Ingredients:
- Banana (make sure that the stalk is long enough)
- Grapes
- Blueberries
First cut off the stalk end of the banana in a straight line and then divide it into two. This will be made into the dolphin’s mouth later. Then arrange the blueberries on the banana using a toothpick to make eyes. Put a grape in the dolphin’s “mouth”. This is best served in a glass and you can add the grapes to the glass.
Now all you have to do is decorate everything in the room and the birthday party can start. I promise you that the little ones will be absolutely amazed!
We hope you really enjoy trying it out!
